About Rehabilitation

ADDA is entrusted as implementing agency for the work of rehabilitation of inhabitants from unsafe areas to safer locations as per the approved Master Plan prepared by CMPDIL for rehabilitation on behalf of Government of West Bengal and Government of India and according to the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.

Ministry of Coal, GOI funding the project of estimated cost value Rs 2610.10 crore as per approved Master Plan prepared 2006 (cost updated on April 2008).

A High Powered Central Committee (HPCC) was formed under the Chairmanship of Secretary Coal, Government of India to Monitor & Supervise the Rehabilitation Work.

Director General of Mines Safety identified 142 locations in Raniganj Coal Field area spread in Asansol & Durgapur Subdivision as subsidence prone. Declaring all those 142 sites as vulnerable, subsequently District Magistrate, Burdwan issued notification from time to time under the West Bengal Restriction of Construction in Unsafe Areas Act 1979.

ADDA has completed the entire survey work including demographic and measurement & valuation of superstructures of respective declared unstable locations.

ADDA has also prepared the Disaster Management Plan on its own initiative to overcome the situation of instant disaster during this on going process of rehabilitation.
